Apples latest iPhone 5 is storming the smartphone market and becoming again the greatest iPhone to date. Thinner, faster, and lighter than its previous model the iPhone 5 is a great feat of engineering. A retouched design to match the new hardware and iOS 6 to top it all off. Elegantly packed into a solid unibody aluminum cut device thats far more lighter and far more faster in the end just about sums up the iPhone 5.
That said the new iPhone 5 brings a nice new update to the line that was needed to hold consumers off another year or so, iOS 6 adds some new features that may or may not win over the consumer base. Though what is it that its lacking? Android is currently swarming over the market as well providing great new smartphones and mobile OS to the tech-field. Jellybean and specifically the new Nexus 4, Galaxy S3, and Note 2 have been head to head competitors for the iPhones grasp of the market.
Apple has been at the top of its game since the iPhone release but what exactly are they lacking and what do they have to do in order to really bring back that “innovation” that apple once had. While the new iPhone 5 is great and will be fine for many of users who are in the iOS ecosystem its not drawing in new ones with the updates, in terms of technology spec for spec its simply lacking in revolutionizing the market as compared to Android and other competitors. Aside from the hardware level which apples handles well they also have to focus on the software “iOS”.
iOS has been a great force for their iDevices since iOS 6 which was under huge backlash after issues with maps being taken away etc. Apple overall just hasn’t adjusted the UI that much to make it feel new and exciting, yes its overly simple and everyone who picks up a iDevice just knows how to use it. Still its not enough Android has one big thing going for it and thats its freedom the customizability the phones offer right now is unparalleled to the iPhone.
LTE, a bigger retina display and great form factor is certainly a big step for the iPhone 5 and will win over some new users but focusing first on upgrading the software bringing more community features over along with that of the jailbreak community and putting that on top of the great hardware apple offers is what they need.Packaging all that great tech in only a design apple could is what they need to whether its new screen technology or new materials of metal to develop the phone its time for a bigger change in the iPhone field.
New role changes from Forstall stepping down as iOS head developer and passing over the role to Jonny Ive could spell some new things down the road for apple, management changes have been kicked in gear and now its time to see what apple can do to make the iPhone that much better.
