First Aid Care for Your Pets in Case of Emergencies

Accidents do happen with pets, no matter how well you take care of them. The key here is to not panic. If your pets ever meet with an accident or show serious health issues, you have to act immediately by providing them immediate care and attention.Having the necessary first aid pet medicines is very important.

So, how should you react when your pet is in agony?

Burns

In case your pet gets exposed to fire or toxic chemicals, you may find them with blistering,singed hair and swelling reddish skin. The first thing you must do is to pour plenty of fresh cool water on the affected area, and then apply an ice pack for at least 15 minutes. But make sure to avoid direct contact with the affected skin. Wrap the ice pack with a hygienic cloth and seek an expert veterinarian’s help.

Fractures

If you find your pet having unusual difficulty in physical activities including pain, inability to use a limb or limb at an odd angle, you should see if an accident might have caused a fracture. In this case, muzzle your pet and watch signs of shock. Never try pulling on limb, but support the injured part and rush your dog to the nearest veterinarian.

Wounds

Poison

Intake of any poisonous material is identified with symptoms including vomiting, convulsions, diarrhea, salivation, weakness, depression and pain. Taking your pet to a veterinary hospital ASAP is the best thing to do in this case.

First aid care should not be in any case considered as a substitute for expert veterinary care, it is only meant to stabilize the animal until the immediate expert veterinary care is given.
